I sometimes plug my iPod into my cable box.

Do any of you plug your iPod whilst your computer is in use into your cable box or other obscure things with USB ports?

Wow, so your cable box actually charges your iPod? I haven't tried this. Dunno why, but I kinda assumed it wouldn't work.

Yeah, there is a USB port and it works for charging almost anything, my RAZR, my iPod, it even powers my USB lava lamp. :)

Well, I think it does, because it's just using the power through the USB port, and anything that has a USB port is caple going to send power through it (to power the device it's supposed to be used with). Of course the data isn't going to work in something not made to receive data from the iPod.

When we were on vacation in Nevada and I left my laptop at home, I figured out that I could charge my iPod mini in a USB port on a PlayStation 2! It was pretty cool because I was kinda worried about how I was gonna get my iPod charged, and I was like hey, *looks at PS2* a USB port! Let's plug the iPod in! :O it works! :D

Does my ipod charge quicker in a main plug socket comapred to my macs usb port.

i would think they charge at the same rate, as they are both 5V. only way to know for sure is to try it yourself :)

I've been trying to charge my ipod w/ my macbook b/c my wife has the wall-charger at work, but every time the macbook goes to sleep so does the iPod. Well, I plugged it into the USB on the cable box the other night and sure enough it worked. Glad I found a use for that USB plug b/c now I can watch videos on the TV w/o worrying about the iPod losing its charge.
