I have one of those iPod stereo things where your iPod plugs into it through the charging port. It used to play and charge the iPod at the same time, which is pretty convenient. Since the 3.0 update, now a little pop-up comes up on the iPod touch saying "Charging is not supported with this device" and doesn't charge it. It still plays music, but why exactly would Apple prevent third-party devices from charging it?

I doubt there is any way around this at all.
