Charging is not supported w/ this accessory?

I got this message today and the iPhone 4s was being plugged into the factory USB Aand Charge cable. What's up with this message? I unplugged/replugged and all was working but wondering why it popped up.

I get this msg when i didn't properly plugged in the 30pin connector. Not all of the pins are used for charging, they have an array of purpose and probably some of them didn't make contact. Re seating the connector usually resolve it.
