Just been using my MBP as normal with an external display. Suddenly everything went off... I thought we'd had a power cut but we hadn't. I took my laptop from the stand it was still on and working. I then got the smell of burning and thought oh no...
Skip forward a few seconds of oh **** and I'm now lost as to what it could be. The laptop seems fine and the two USB-C ports work with the dongle I use but when I plug the charger in, it doesn't recognise it and still shows as running off the battery. The only other item I have with USB-C is my iPad so I thought I'd try the MBP charger on that to see if the cable/brick was the issue. It would appear not and it appeared to charge the iPad.
I'm now at a loss as to what to do. I've spoken to my local Apple reseller who has said their Apple Tech is not in until January, I have a laptop that on the face of it works but doesn't charge and a charger that doesn't work on the laptop but does on the iPad. I've tried a different USB-C cable and that doesn't work either. I wonder, could it be the charging element on the laptop?
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm really starting to judge the ability of Apple and the quality of products. This isn't the first time I've had an issue with a new product. My iPad Pro logic board went just after a year of having it!
Any help or ideas would be great.
Thanks,
Ben
