So I have scoured the internet for a solution but can't seem to find one. Basically, I just got a new charger for my MacBook because my old one got frayed (by itself, wear and tear I guess) and previously I had issues with getting it to charge. I would have to wiggle it around a little bit to get it in gear, but eventually the LED would come on an it would charge. It also would say "not charging" sometimes even though it was plugged in. But I could always get it to work.

Well, now ever since I got the new charger I have to reset the PMU every time I want it to charge and I have noticed a considerable decrease in my estimate battery life upon a full charge. I have checked the battery on the system diagnostic and it says its "good". So anybody know anything about this issue.

I have a Macbook from 2007. Basic. :apple:

HELP!! Battery not charging

I hope someone can help you because I have a similar problem. New cord and battery still not charging. HELP

I'm not too mac savvy, so any help would be appreciated.

By the way, how do you reset the PMU? (and what is that? :rolleyes)

The PMU relates to PowerBooks and iBooks, not MacBooks, and has nothing to do with battery or charging issues. Perhaps the OP meant the SMC.

I'm not sure exactly what steps you're taking, but if your charger doesn't charge at all, it may be defective, even if it's new. Have you calibrated your battery?
