Charging Issue

I recently replaced my MacBook cord because it had ceased working--the top where it plugs into the computer was heating up a lot, and the light stopped working, the the point where no power was going into my computer. I got a new cord, and it worked great for a few weeks, but now I'm having the same issues starting up. Has this happened to anyone else?
