Charging MBP

So my MacBook Pro 15" just arrived by UPS, I have it plugged in to the magsafe, at first there was a green then orange light but now nothing. On my battery indicating it says I am running on battery power? Shouldn't it run off AC power once it is plugged in? (My first mac, so I am a little confused right now)

It should go from green almost immediately to orange and stay there until ~95% charged. Did you make sure it is a)seated correctly...ie not cocked to one side or top to bottom and b) plugged in to a known good outlet...maybe try a different outlet?

...and yes, when plugged in, it runs off ac power.

Thank you, I tried another outlet and that seemed to fix the problem. Which is odd because I was using the same outlet for my previous computers power cable. Thanks!
