Do all charging pads/stands just use the apple charging 'puck' that comes with the watch or are there actual standalone charging pads available like there are with phones?
 
there are both, you just have to pay attention
some have a holder for an existing puck
some have a puck built in.

not always, but the ones that come with a puck are typically around or over $100 (US)

at apple, the mophie 2-in-1 or 3-in-1, and the Belkin BOOST↑CHARGE™ 3-in-1 all come with the watch puck.
