I have discovered that you can charge the Apple Pencil Pro using the standard Apple MagSafe charger. To use it you have to position the pencil between its magnets on the charging disk, see the photo below. You can feel this by sliding the pencil back and forth and you will feel the center. There is no indication it is charging. The only way to tell is if you have the Magsafe charger plugged to an Anker charger the has output metering, or check it on the iPad. I misplaced my Primary Pencil Pro, and switched to a new out of the box replacement I have. It is not being recognized, nor does it have the popdown indicating its charge state. I plugged it into my Anker 548 and it is presently taking a 01 Watt charge level. I will leave it on charge for an hour or so and try it again. I suspect I have a bad one.

Called Apple support and it turns out this Apple Pencil Pro in not compatible with the M4 iPad. I purchased the wrong one. The only way you can tell the difference other than it not pairing with the M4 iPads, is with the serial number. I ordered the wrong one through the Apple Store on the Mac Studio. I didn't notice the compatible accessories tab on it On the iPhone it automatically takes you to the correct Apple Pencil. 🙄

Another moronic moment was not setting up the Pencil Pro in the finder. I had forgotten you have to enter new devices manually. 😕

There’s only one model of the “Apple Pencil Pro” and it is compatible with the M4 iPads (and mini 7).

The “Apple Pencil 2” is not compatible with the M4 iPads. I suspect that is what you bought. They look identical other than the printing on it.

I am trying to figure out a way to charge my Apple Pencil Pro without it being attached to the iPad. I’ve tried this method and it doesn’t seem to be working.

Does anyone know of another way to accomplish being able to charge the Apple Pencil Pro without the iPad attached?

I am sorry to say there isn't one. I tried to get it to work on the standard MagPro disk the induction coil just does not work with the pencil.
