I have 7 days of the week each with different data. I want to chart each day of the week separately in a line graph. This will be showing about 1 month of data at a time

Here is what the data looks like.

When I try to do a months worth of data Excel just bunches it up so it isn't legible and instead of Days of the week I just get in the legend series 1 thru 30 all with different colors or shapes. I need some way to spread it out so there is more gaps between the lines.

Please give me some help on how to do this?

Thanks,

Randal

Excel is a powerful application, but I don't think it reads minds. You have given it ambiguous text data. Instead of the days of the week, you should give the dates of the visits.

I changed it to the dates as you suggested and the graphs are more legible. The only problem is I need to see the trends based on the days of the week. Is there a way to do that since I now have the actual dates being used?

I suggest putting the seven days of the week in column A and then have a different column for each week (column B will be week 1, column C will be week 2, etc). You should also have a row on top with column headings for use in the legend.

You can then do charts where:

- each week is a different color bar and they are grouped by day; or

- you can have a single bar for each day of the week with the value (eg sales) for each week a different color but stacked one on top of the other.

Hope this is helpful.

Good luck!

That certainly works so thanks for the help. Now I just need a way to automate the process. I'll probably try Applescript with it.
