I have the public beta of iOS 26 installed on my iPhone 16 Pro. I have a ChatGPT Plus subscription. I can bring the widget up on my car screen. What I cannot do is press any of the buttons on the widget screen to initiate anything with ChatGPT. Is there something I am missing?

Update, I "reset" the widgets in the settings and re-added ChatGPT. This time, it dit bring up the interactive voice screen on my phone and I did have a conversation through the audio of my car. I did it while parked. There was no music playing. I guess it's a step in the right direction.

A second update. I was out and about just now. Playing music prevents ChatGPT from picking up a microphone request. Stopping the music does not seem to give ChatGPT priority for the microphone. I parked the car and turned it off and on, still did not work. With the car parked, I closed the ChatGPT app on my phone and then the button on the widget screen was able to grab with car's microphone.

Sounds like a bug between GPT and iOS 26. Perhaps an update is needed on GPT’s end. This is part of the beta process.

I started messing with ChatGPT with CarPlay when I found out about Grok coming to Teslas maybe a few weeks ago. I couldn't get that ChatGPT widget to work either, unfortunately. I can start the conversation from my iPhone, and the only way I can see to end it is also from the iPhone, though I was cut off after 20 minutes once. So the CarPlay Live Activity and widgets don’t really do anything. It would be nice to have a dedicated ChatGPT app on CarPlay, I have a lot of random ideas on my commutes, would be nice to bounce them off of it.
