Hi,

I‘m trying to find a way to „chat“
with chatGTP via CarPlay while driving.
Using iOS26 PB3 and a „non-Apple intelligence“ iPhone 13 Pro.

Created a shortcut that starts chatGTP in voice mode. Works. Siri doesn’t execute it while driving though.
The chatGTP CarPlay widget doesn’t do anything either.

Anybody have an idea? Thx!

Yes, pay attention to the road instead of reading the screen.
Puuh - thanks for trying to take care of my security and of those around me.
But I have to say I really dislike your comment. But of course to each their own opinion.

What I tried to describe is that I’m looking for a solution that allows speaking with chatGTP after just one command to Siri - just like I’m taking to Siri while driving- which seems to be ok for Apple - and maybe for you as well.

There's no way to start a ChatGPT call on CarPlay. You have to start it through the app itself on your iPhone. Also, no way that I can find to end that call through CarPlay. Again, you can only end it on the app on your phone. Edit: And, please don’t mess with your phone while driving.

Thx. And I wasn’t going to use the phone while driving. Everybody seems real upset about that. Wasn’t m intention. Wanted to talk with GTP the way I talk with Siri. Thought there’d be a way.

No, as someone who has Apple Intelligence turned off ChatGPT doesn't work well with Siri unless you have Apple Intelligence enabled. I even set it up through a shortcut but it doesn't trigger consistently. Being able to quickly ask a question that normal Siri won't understand is pretty much the one thing I actually miss with AI off.

Too bad. Thx!

Without an Apple Intelligence capable iPhone - not sure you can. On my 16PM I can use my voice commands and say "Ask ChatGPT xxx" and it will use ChatGPT to answer my question. However, it doesn't carry the context forward or answer anything conversationally. It's a one and done answer. If someone else has a method to have a multi prompt interaction via CarPlay, I am all ears. But to the original point, not sure you can with a 13 Pro.
