Hi everyone - looking for some advice! - My wife is a teacher and every pupil in her class has recently been provided with an iPad 8th gen for classwork, marking, etc.

I'm aware they are compatible with the original Magic Pencil but the school budget doesn't stretch to £90 for each kid to get a stylus (that they would likely just lose anyway! as we're talking about lower school/Primary)

I personally have an iPP 12.9 and use the Pencil 2 so I've never looked at "dumb" stylus options for the iPad - are there any recommendations for "cheap" stylus for the iPad on the basis that they would only be for basic usage like "ticking or crossing" work on a screen - or maybe writing down a few numbers.

I know on Amazon there are hundreds of £10 stylus - are any of them better than the rest?

I bought something similar by another vendor when I couldn’t find my Apple Pencil 2, and it works really well and has a very good stand-by time before needing to be charged.

The generic ones on Amazon are a pretty good alternative. I lost my Apple pen and bought a $25 version and can’t really tell the difference

Got this 2 days ago. Works well for my use.

I have Apple pencils and a Logitech Crayon but bought this because I’m curious and it’s cheap. It worked just like the Crayon for me when marking up PDFs on OneDrive on iPP 11 2021 and Mini 6, although with less “smearing” (but that may be because I changed a setting for drawing only with pencil). I did put a grip on it because I like the chunkier size. I really like that it charges USB C. It seems to be a good option if you are only writing and don’t need pressure sensitivity.

Do these options work with handwriting to text via scribble?
They should. The only thing they don’t do is respond to pressure. If you’re just writing (as opposed to drawing or painting in software like Procreate), pressure doesn’t matter.
