Does anyone know of a cheap motherboard that can take a Core Solo chip? My new processor for my Mini is coming soon, and I figure I could setup the Core Solo that's in there now into something once I pull it out.

Oh, and yes, this would be a PC motherboard. :p

no idea as i have never used the board, but check HERE.

as a plan 'B', i used this barebones LAPTOP for my solo/memory pulled from the mini. worked really well, fast, quiet, dvd burner, etc. added a pata 2.5, bought the wireless card (which was a dead match for the airport extreme card in the mini) and sold at a decent profit. almost covered the cost of the T7200 actually. best of luck with the upgrade!

Thanks guys. I can't seem to find anything really in my price range. In fact, the Mac Mini seems like an exceptionally good deal when you start looking at barebones systems and individual parts.

Let me know if you find anything else, though! Thanks!

just curious - what processor upgrade are you going with on the mini?

I got a cheap used T2400 (Core Duo 1.83Ghz for only $80) which I'm sticking in there. I thought about getting a Core 2 Duo, but I couldn't justify the added cost as this computer will be resigned to being a media center computer within a few months.
