Cheap Wireless Dialup?

I'm on a dialup landline internet connection, but want to go wireless so I can move around the house with my laptop.

I want to go cheaper than airport, but know that I need a modem of some sort. I have an external modem that might or might not work...

How might I go about doing a dialup wireless setup with a modem and a non-apple router?

How about a refurbished original airport? I've never shopped with these people, so I can't vouch for that.
