I just ordered a contract-free verizon 64gb iPhone 6 Plus from the verizon website for $849. But I see the price is $399 if I purchase it with a 2-year contract. Verizon's website says the early termination fee for all smartphones is $350, which would make the total cost of this phone only $749 if I purchase it with a contract and then immediately cancel. This sounds too good to be true, what am I missing here? Does Verizon have a different etf for the iPhone 6+? I can't find any information on it.

Crap, I just want back to their website and that $399 with contract option is no longer being shown, just the EDGE option. Did I just ruin it for myself?

I wonder the same thing. I ordered Verizon phone on contract and scratching my head to see how to cancel and still keep the phone

I found an even cheaper way to do it, but I'm going to wait until the bill shows up to make sure it worked.
