So I need this to get my iPhone to hook up to a TV. But Apple's is a ridiculous $50. I checked Monoprice, but it doesn't look like they sell any authorized version. Anyone know of one that works for video, preferably an authorized 3rd-party version?

Unlike the old 30 pin, the new video cables actually are running an ARM processor that takes the digital video from the iPhone and converts it to an HDMI signal. Because of this, there isn't anyone making a "cheap" Lightning to HDMI cable since it isn't something you just wire X pin to Y pin like the old 30 pin to HDMI cables. Same is true for the Lightning to VGA.

I agree $49 for the adapter is steep - when for $75 you can get an Apple TV refurb.
