So I bailed on the Mac Pro 12-core and went iMac i7 because I don't want to invest in new machines that don't at least have a hope of faster TB i/o for video. As a consolation, I'm looking at having Dan at ChargedPC replace the DVD with one 240GB Vertex 3 SSD, and install another of the same and RAID 0 both. That's 480GB of SDD striped which should give me a real boost in working with a zillion tracks and rendering read/writes.... even be faster than the Vertex 3 480GB SDD itself, and costs a lot less. I'll TM that to the upgraded stock Apple 2GB for 'data' and FW all of it to an OWC Qx2 for BU. This is a simple and cheap alternative set-up to the MP until they roll out something yummy in fall, etc., and can be a great second bay once that happens anyway. Thoughts?
