I have two cables. One has stopped charging and the other is peeling so I can see the inner wires. I need a new one. Apple charges too much, any places that I can find a cable for cheap?

Any cable that came with an in-warranty iphone ought to be covered by the warranty and readily replaced at an Apple store (or via Applecare if you're far away).

I had one that was doing the typical peel that every cable I've seen does eventually. It was part of an in warranty phone. Basically I got
The blame for it doing that and finally the manager agreed to replace it that one time. Anyone know what causes them to peel like they do??

I keep on loosing mine, its damned annoying.

I had the one that came with my original iPhone, then bought a second one so I would have two. I then lost the original. I proceeded to get an iPhone 4 so I once again had two, but then lost the one I bought.

I'm 1 for 3. :(

Its covered under the warranty of the device, assuming you are still under applecare, make a genius appointment and they will swap it. Have done it many times.

they are made cheaply. My old iPod cable from 2004 is in better shape than my iPod touches cable from that I got Xmas 2009.

Apple has gone cheap and the design is crap because they can not mold the cover to the wiring over the connector like you see on other things.

Just type in eBay

I have ordered two from here with 100% perfection in both. One was a 6.5' for stringing through our minivan, etc., the other was a simple wall charger.

Reminded me to order another one as I left a charger in a hotel this week. :(

I notice this happens when use your iphone/ipod while its connected to the cable. My GF has two cables, one is over two years old, and they both look brand new. She never uses her ipod while she charges. So I figured it is the pulling on the wire that causes the peel.

Would apple replace a peeling wire? It works fine but you can see the wire. The one that doesn't work would be too old to replace. Got it with my Ipod 5.5g

Yes if the cable is shredding they will replace it. Thats how all of mine have been.

So just generally wondering about questions like this:

Did you bother to look for yourself?
Have you Googled/eBayed/Amazoned this?
Did you check your warranty to see if cables/accessories are covered?

Just wondering.
