Hi,
I'm living in Europe and plan to get a new C2D mbp (very) soon. I am a staff member at a University and also have experience as a developer (albeit not with OS X but I'm willing to start ;->). I'm wondering what the cheapest options are for me to get an MBP. The lowest end models with an Edu discount are around 1830 euros without apple care. Someone mentioned you can get a one-time 20% discount if you register as a student with ADC. Does this also apply in Europe? If so, how can you do this and would I be eligible?
I also don't really want to spring another 400 euro for Apple care right now so I'm thinking of two options. Someone mentioned that if you buy with a visa card you warranty period is automatically doubled by visa - can anyone back this up? Would this mean I would automatically get two years warranty even though the standard price comes with just one? Another idea is that I might move soon to somewhere like the US (I'm an academic and we travel a lot) so it might be cheaper to get apple care there. Is there any problem with doing that?
I'd really appreciate any buying advice people can give me for buying an MBP in Europe (specifically Holland).
thanks
