Hi everyone, I'm getting ready to buy the new laptop and wanted to see where people have been shopping around for it and have gotten the best deal. The Apple store's freebie of the iPod touch is attractive but I don't really care for the printer. Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks!

Okay, if you want the free iPod, then the best deal you can get is through Apple's Online store with Educational Discount. However, if you don't care for the Apple iPod, you can get your MacBook at either Apple's Online Refurbished Store or if you don't want to pay sales tax, go to MacMall. They also have a few other offers as well which some are free after mail in rebate.

I have purchased my first MacBook through MacMall and I had an amazing experience with them. 1 day delivery and the mail in rebate took less than 3 weeks for the check to arrive.

do a trip to DE (if you are near)

go to christiana mall

apply for juniper (0% 12 mos)
buy macbook 13 2.53 for 1399 + 183 :)apple:care) + 229 (ipod touch) with student discount
pay with juniper

sell the ipod touch
invest ~$1800 in something

pay in juniper in 12 months

i think that is the cheapest

Club Mac, its what im doing, remember no sales tax + mail in rebate, etc

edit- while cheaper then the education price, you don't get the itouch

I live in the east bay (cali) where tax is 9.75%. so most people should be spending a little less.
i went through the education discount, got the touch and got the 150 dollar printer which totaled 1630.
total of rebates is - 330 = 1300.
Sold the printer for 100, and the ipod for 200.
so i ended up spending a 1k.
i dont no if that helps. :D
