So looking to purchase my first ever iMac but was looking to find it somewhere cheaper than the Apple store.

I am looking at the 21.5 inch 1tb model amazon has them new 1419$ no tax free ship.

Is this the cheapest im going to find it? Any places to maybe check for?

I just bought one at best buy for $900 didn't have that much memory but a heck of a deal I love it

Woot.com is selling the base iMac today for $1049.99, however they will go very fast. When they're gone they're gone. That's $150 below anyone else's lowest price. Act fast if you want one.

You should check out a refurbished Mac from Apple. They come with the standard 1 year warranty, and you can get Applecare if you choose. I have had , and know others who have purchased Apple refurbished with no issues.
I just recently received my 27" refurbished iMac, which was $1419, and I love it!!!

They have a 21.5" with 2.7Ghz Quad Core i5 for $1249.

You beat me to it. I sent that link out to most of my co-workers as they want to get into the Mac world but don't want to get the 27". Good call!

Thx but I'm looking for at least the 1tb model 500gb would get filled up too fast especially on a desktop. I looked at the refurb but at 1349$ w/ taxes youre much better off getting brand new at 1419$ no taxes from amazon.

Anywhere else out there to look? Is there usually deals after Christmas?

The third one down has the 1TB drive for $1249, the one with the 500GB is $1019. The Woot deal is still going on, that would probably be the cheapest, only difference I see is the processor is 2.5Ghz and the 500GB HDD.

I know right, what I'm saying is with taxes you're lookin at a extra hundred or so leaving you at 1349$ for the refurb. While Amazon has it new for 1419$ so I would rather go that route for not much more.

I'm hoping to find a better deal that comes along but I doubt it.

OK, you can save some bucks by buying online such as B&H, Amazon, etc...
Basically $100 off retail & no tax with free shipping... :)
BUT....
What if you have a issue that needs repaired under warranty, can you take your iMac that you bought from Amazon to your local Apple store for the repairs??
Are you treated different because it was not bought at the Apple store??
What about the 14 day return with no questions asked??? :(

I most likely will buy a refurbished so I can deal better with our local Apple store... :)

As long as you buy from an Apple authorized seller, you can bring it to any Apple store for repairs, without issue. It's when you try buying from places like ebay, you have to worry...

How is $1419 from Amazon better then $1349 from apple? Look closer at the Apple refurb program, the systems are better then new.

Plus with that $70 savings buying refurb, you can max out the memory to 16GB. I was able to buy 16GB (4x4GB sticks) for $60 buying memory at newegg.com.

One other thing, you don't have to buy Applecare right away, if you want it. You can buy it as long as your in your 1 year warranty period, and you can shop around for a better price on it, when I called in to buy my refurb 27", Apple offered it to me for $119, instead of the $169 price. Still cheaper than Amazon after tax...

Are you a student? A few weeks ago I ordered on the phone and was offered the refurbed unit plus the 10% student discount. I have not seen this available online before. Maybe call and ask.

PS: They never asked me for any verification of my educator status.

Well the reason I was thinking brand new for 70 more bucks is better is just because I'm a little worried about maybe receiving a returned yellow screen unit. I know it seems lots of people were returning theirs for this reason. Is this still a huge problem?
