Where in the world?!

Guess DSG are really having a hard time. Went into the Moorgate PC World to find they're offering the 2009 White MacBook for £689.

Gut feeling tells me Apple have a price-match policy - could one get it even cheaper than this direct from Apple?

I'm not in the market, but in this recession - every little helps!

PC world was the cheapest last year too, then Apple discontinued that particular model (Macbook Air, rev A) so i'm guessing Apple is about to discontinue the White Plastic Macbook soon.

Wouldn't suprise me, Discontinue the Macbook Air and Plastic Macbook and introduce new, netbook style Macbook Air...

Has there been a higher number of refurbs of the plastic MB recently, or any suppliers hearing reduced stock availability - these would indicate a potential EOL also.

2.4 Ghz Macbook Pro is cheaper by £49 as well

iMacs on the other hand, is priced same as Apple's MSRP.

This is interesting.

They are the recent models. (at PCworld)

Macbook whites are actually out of stock and both UMB and UMBP are having £30-50 discount.

iMacs are same as MSRP

This price at PC World is a sign that stocks are being cleared.

The white plastic MacBook is not long for this world. I'd say sometime around...um...WWDC?

Quick question,

Has there always been discount for MBs or is it a recent thing?

I'm not an avid PC World shopper, but this is the first time I've seen a discount on pretty much anything Apple :)

where is the world?
pc sheet world :)

seriously, their staff are clueless... but if you end up getting a product cheaper, then why not?

money is money at the end of the day...

It's been discounted down to this price for at least a month now. I doubt if PC World are told about Apple's future plans that far in advance (if at all).

On a related note...Comet were selling the 2.1 MacBook in December for £587, that's by far the cheapest I've ever seen an Apple laptop.

A couple of weeks ago, I got a MacBook White 2.0 (2009) for under £500 :) (brand new, delivered, including 8% quidco cashback) from additions direct using their XX057 30% discount code. I also bought a MacBook Aluminium 2.0 for £602 delivered (again including 8% quidco cashback) using the same code. I posted the deal on here, but I think an admin thought I was spamming and removed the post!

This is also a reason why there are lots of them on eBay at the moment. None of them are mine!

ps. They've changed the deal now, so you can't use it on electricals
