I am on 10 GB mobile value share plan, two lines, 24% employee discount.

What I had done in the past is stagger my lines upgrades so we'd get a new phone ever year, and sell the soldest one on Craigslist. If I pick the AT&T Next option this year for my 6+ 64gb, our bill will go from $108 to about $145 while paying the phone off on the Next 18.

Next year when the 6S comes out, I'll still be paying on my 6+, so if I did another Next upgrade, our bill would go from $145 to an insane $182?? My wife would kill me.

Is anyone else in this boat? What are you going to do?

At that point, sell your 5s and pay off the balance remaining on your 6. You no longer are paying the 199/299/399 up front. You could look at it as paying it off on the back end.

I have a related question on Next. Once I pay off the phone, am I free to get another Next plan, regardless of when I started the previous?

So pass down the 6+, sell the 5s hopefully for like $250 or 300 on the high end, pay off the 6+, pick a new Next plan for the 6S - would it make sense for me to pick Next 12 this year then and every year after?

I'm planning on paying off the remaining balance on the phones at month 10/11. I'll be on Next 12 so payoff amount for me is ~$425 (month 10) which isn't too far from the $399 + $40 upgrade fee that a fully subsidized upgrade costs.
