I'd like to buy an unlocked iPhone 6. My question is, if I:

  • Buy $199 iPhone 6 from Verizon
  • Buy $60 service plan
  • Cancel before the 30 days is up
  • Pay the $350 ETF
...I'm only paying $550 for the phone and $60 for the service plan, which is cheaper than buying the $650 T-Mobile unlocked version.

Will this work or does Verizon charge any additional fees for doing this? Will my credit be affected by canceling?

That's an interesting idea. Considering buying brand new unsubsidized would be probably 700 after tax or more? Don't forget "one time" activation fees and other fees they'll throw on it. I'm not sure how that carrier handles their plans if you cancel within first 30 days. You sure they don't take the phone back?

  • Buy $199 iPhone 6 from Verizon
  • Buy $60 service plan (this will be $70+ after taxes and service charges guaranteed
  • Cancel before the 30 days is up
  • Pay the $350 ETF
  • $40 Upgrade fee

Added some things in bold. I suppose if that extra $10 savings is worth all that hassle for you. Only you can answer that.
