okay, I am now really missing Worms Armageddon and Quake 3 that I used to play on my PC.

I have Win98 and XP upgrade, which doesn't work with boot camp. To buy XP Home over here costs £158, so what's the quickest, cheapest and easiest way of getting XP onto my Mac so I can play my games?

A way that cannot be discussed on these forums...

quake 3 has a mac version, as does worms Armageddon if memory serves, if not you can just get the ps1 version and run it on an emulator.

You can get XP upgrade to install on your Mac using the method described here:

As long as you do not currently have that copy of XP loaded on any other machine and the EULA gives you transfer rights, you should be all set to go.

That's the thing I'm worried about with the upgrade disk. It's from my first PC, which died with the XP upgrade still installed. I think if I tried to register it Microsoft would just say "It's already installed, sorry" and I have no proof that it was installed as the old hard disk which had XP on it only appears as RAW file format, it's had it basically.

Hi ,
For Quake 3 , there is no problem playing this on your Intel-Mac under OS X.
Just download the latest Quake 3 update , which is universal , and then copy from your "PC Quake 3 install CD" the .pak files in your baseq3 folder on your Mac.
That's it

I've done all of that, and when I double click the Quake III app, it gives me the ID logo as normal on PC, and then it changes the screen Res into something like 800x600, and just gives me a white screen with black bars either side. It just sits there and never goes anywhere. Any clever ideas?

As long as the macine is truly out of commission you should be fine. I've moved my XP Upgrade license twice and never had an issue activating it online. You have a right to transfer the license, so even if the online activation doesn't work, just call the number you'll be fine.
