A friend at work wants a wireless router for her small apartment. The airport is too expensive for her. She has a comcast modem and an imac and iphone. She simply wants to be able to use her comcast modem with the cheapest router she can get. Any suggestions?

One quick idea. Ethernet from modem to iMac, then turn on the Internet sharing feature for the phone. No router needed, no cost at all. I will try and find a good link for you.

Google has lots of links, here is one for leopard, but it is ver similar to snow leopard and lion.

This is an option if the person is truely broke. However, I would recommend they go to bestbuy with $40 and buy a router. Unless they need any special features, which it sounds like they do not, any cheap-o wireless router will do fine. The hardware firewall is essential and you wouldnt have to worry about keeping the iMac powered on at all times.

The neighbour's

She tried, it was too weak. Even had their permission since she's friends with them.
