i did cheat on someone-- felt horrible afterwards-- never told the boyfriend about it as the person i cheated with was one of his friends-- he eventually found out (after we had broken up)

This girl (A) I was attracted to kept turning me down. So I moved on and found a nice hippie girl (B) ( as you do) who I started a short but memorable relationship with. As it turned out A was really into me it was just that she would always turn me down. Huh? Anyway girl A found out about B and was very hurt. I continued moving on and now am single.

Is that cheating?

In have never cheated on anyone, but I have been cheated on, and it was very hurtful.

I cannot think of any circumstance where I would condone cheating -- it's just not right to risk hurting the feelings of the person you are supposed to love. If you don't love them enough to extend the basic courtesy of being faithful to them you should break up. Or if you are the kind of person who can't keep it in their pants you should not start a relationship with anyone, period.
