Hi everyone,

I sometimes run using a HR strap rather than the WHRM on my apple watch and I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to check if the HR data recorded is from the WRHM or the bluetooth connected device?

I went on a run the other day and am interested in the data but not sure if my device actually connected or if it was WRHM? I thought about exporting the .fit file but not sure if there is a way to differentiate data source?

Cheers,

Tom

Sure, you can check the data source from the iPhone Health app as follow
- open the Browse tab
- Tap Activity
- Tap Workouts
- Scroll down and tap ‘Show all Data’
- Tap on the workout you want to check
- Scroll down to ‘Related Samples’
- Tap on ‘Average Heart rate’
- See all the samples and their source

A quick check I use when running with a HRM other than the watch is to connect via Bluetooth. After that I open the heart app to check my heart rate and once my HR is displayed I quickly glance behind the watch to make sure the green leds are not flashing.

Quick and easy way to verify that the HRM strap is working before taking off on my run.
