Hi all,
I work at my school's media lab, where we use iMacs to edit video and handle all multimedia, but Windows computers to write scripts.
What I would like to be able to do (since we only have about 10-12 computers) is set up shared networking between all of the computers, so we can keep all of the files relating to the school's TV show on one computer, and always have access to video that's been edited, instead of having to ask people "Hey, where's that video that you made last week that's airing tomorrow?"
The only problem that I foresee is in checking-in and checking-out files. We wouldn't want two people to be working on the same graphic on photoshop, and then have those two people overwrite each other's work, or otherwise have two people working on the same file at the same time.
Is there a way of checking-in and checking-out files that are shared over a network between macs and PCs? If it's not built into the operating system, is there any way of doing this with third party software?
Thanks!
Glenn Fisher
