it looks like they’re intending on developing a low-cost sort of Netbook, but with a difference — it will be powered by the iPhone. The idea is you plug your iPhone into the bottom and it not only becomes the touchpad for the Netbook, it also powers the thing entirely, the rest of the hardware is simply a keyboard, screen, and a few other bits to make it all run.
It’s an idea that’s already been done with Windows Mobile in the form of the Redfly.
Of course, based on the rendering above, which pretty much just looks like a shiny-ified MacBook, the idea is very far from being implemented. It also would almost certainly not work on a non-jailbroken iPhone, either. With Apple set to announce (possibly inexpensive) new notebooks next week, it’s also difficult to say whether or not the olo concept will even find a market. All in all, there are a lot of cards stacked up against this thing.
The Redfly is certainly intriguing and useful for a set of people — would you want to see the same sort of thing applied to the iPhone?

ya that is perhaps the worst photoshop I have seen in a while.

Also, the iPhone's CPU is underclocked to 412MHz, and only has 128MB of RAM. That is anemic even by netbook standards. The thought that they would do this with the current iPhone (using ONLY the iPhone as the guts) is preposterous, as it would ruin the experience of running leopard (as I assume it would, since iPhone OS is not built for anything other that the phone and it's modes of interaction)

Interesting concept, but as illustrated and described further in this thread, there is no way...

The iPhones battery is bad enough without it having to power a screen and keyboard...

Nice concept but isnt going to happen IMO

kind of a neat idea
tho i doubt id buy one
but i bet my sister and a few friends would think it was the perfect solution to their needs
iphone does everything they need
but sometimes u want a normal keyboard and a bigger view
tada

Thats a really cool concept. The iPhone as the trackpad. So when I get a call, I have to pick my entire computer up to my ear? or bend over and put one side of my head to the keyboard so I can make calls? Which is the preferred method.

...or use the mic and internal speakers, or hook it up to a headset

Very interesting concept.

Too bad that Apple will sue them out of existence before it gets off the ground.

but what makes this different from a modbook? if they buy some kind of macbook from apple and modify it like is done with the modbook I don't think Apple will have a problem with it.
