If you have either phone... check your screen for dead pixels.

Returned my original launch day iPhone 14 Pro, picked up my 2nd one yesterday... first unit had 1 dead pixel, second unit had 2 dead pixels.

Free QC for Apple.

Since most launch day devices last day of return is tomorrow. Everyone better bring out their fine tooth comb and a magnifying glasses to look for any imperfections 🤣🤣🤣
Click return and you can 'test' it 2 more weeks 😉

I guess I am just used to not caring but I have never ever looked for dead pixels on a smart phone. Of course I tend to go with the fact it is a mass produced product and a random dead pixel is within the degree of variability of a mass produced device. I understand if you are that picky but for me ah who cares. It just not matter in my opinion if I am not going to return a iPhone for that reason. I had only one return in since I started on iPhones all the way back to the 3G I had and that was my iPhone 11 Pro at three weeks and that was not a manufacturing error but I was a klutz and drop my phone down 3 flights of stairs. Applecare Plus covered the replacement.

No doubt I am tempting fate here, but I've bought almost every iPhone on launch day since the 3GS, and never received one with any faults and I'm pretty OCD about phone condition.
Annoying for OP, but get it swapped out (again) for another...

i know this thread is pretty old but i recently bought 2 14PM for my parents and both of them had dead pixel too...i think the majority of the Iphone 14PM have a dead pixel...the last 2 14PM i both for myself both had dead pixel too. ended up keeping the one with the dead pixel furthest from the center tho...

That's crazy unlucky man...

yeah or thats just how the Iphones screen are...it's only visible at a really close distant or if you search for it tho....still sucks ngl haha welp
I looked mine with magnifying glass and I couldn't notice anything dark. Do you still have some 14PM with dead pixel? Can you make a picture, because I'm curious how it looks/how visible it is actually?

How close you was that you was able to see it?

Just like OPs…it’s really tiny tbh..you can only see it maybe 3-4 inch close from the screen? Attached a photo that I shot with the macro lens. Not even sure if you can see it. Use the sun in the weather app as reference.

I'm pretty sure Apple will exchange it. Give it a try. My sister has 13 Pro with no dead pixels. My 14 Pro also looks perfect. So I see why you can't have a good unit aswell.

No worries. Not even sure if I should return it again or just wait for the 15 at this point…really need to upgrade tho cause my 7 plus is slowly dying

Well I decided to change my screen protector today and have a look on "clean" screen. I noticed I have 2 dead RED sub pixels. :( There are kinda in the bottom center part of the screen. Barely visible, but now my OCD kicked in. It seems I will ask for repair or look directly for 15 Pro Max.

Edit: I'm investigating now more deeply. It's so weird. If I shift like some mm. my POV the pixel is working, but other appears (call it 3rd) next to it with that shifted vision. If I go stright up (90 deg), the 3rd is working, but the other becomes dark dot. It's they are not working at specific angle. But with my naked eye I can't see it. Should be 100% with a magnifying glass like 3-4cm from screen.

Edit #2: For me this looks like some kind of microscophic dust inside. From an angle like I said they show on/off and even the green sub pixel on the same spot changes to dark when red goes visible ... and the opposite. So something is covering them up.

Seeing how the pixel layout looks makes sense

a quick update on mine....i found another dead pixel on my screen yesterday....interestingly it's only visible with blue photos so im assuming its not really a dead pixel but a dead blue sub-pixel? but yea...2 dead pixel on mine is pretty unacceptable for the price they selling this phones for so i just returned it(again :/)...

From what I'm reading in Reddit in general it's really hard or impossible to get perfect display. Many says that they can even develop over the years, so let's say you got perfect panel day 1, but in 1-2 months you can have already dead pixels. I will stop watch for mine. Since I can't see them with naked eye - I'm fine. I will change mine anyway when 16 Pro comes out.

p.p. If you shift your view (tilt it), do you still see them? Mine like I said are showing on and off depending if I tilt a bit my head which I found really weird. (all red so far like authors post)

Edit: Well good luck with next unit. Keep me in touch if you are lucky third time. :)

Edit #2: Putting drop of water (acting as a magnifier) kinda shifts the pixel and its on/off :D It's so weird. Like a debris is on the pixel and depending of the angle, it determine you see it working or not.
