Hi all,

I live in Turkey and since we do not have the new MBA's here just yet (at least not officially), I am planning on buying one from the States.

I wish to buy a 13.3" MacBook Air via a relative who lives in NJ. I will get the base model with an upgraded RAM, and to do this, he will BTO from the Apple Online Store. He will pay and get the MBA to ship to his address. After receiving the item, he will be bringing it back with him to Turkey to its owner (me :)), hopefully.

Now, what I am asking is this:

Seeing all the replacements people are getting for their MBA's, I am a bit concerned about this whole idea of getting one from overseas. To justify this purchase, I have to minimize the risks of getting a flawed item.

Before he brings the MBA to Turkey, I want to be 100% sure that the MBA he ordered is flawless. To achieve this, I will ask my relative to unbox the item, check for any physical flaws (missing items, dents, marks, squeaks, etc.) and also to set-up the MBA for the first time and use it for a day or two to check if it has any problems running as a computer :).

He, besides lacking extensive knowledge about computers/electronics, has also never used a Mac before. Therefore, I have to provide him with a guide covering all possible flaws/faults that he may encounter. I too, have never used a Mac before, so, I am asking for your kind assistance, anything you may advise regarding my concern.

Thank you in advance, for your time.
