I have a WD MyBook Studio that I just took apart and put a new 3.5" 2TB Seagate disk in. I realize that SMART info isn't sent over the firewire bus, so I'm looking for alternatives to check this info.

So, SMART isn't sent over USB or Firewire, and it's connected to my old macbook which can only fit a 2.5" disk on the internal SATA connector, and it's too old to have Thunderbolt so that isn't an option either. Is there any way I can read the smart info without finding someone with a Mac Pro to plug the disk into?

A PC desktop would do the trick as well if you are only interested in the SMART status.
