checking the Mail

ok,i've realised i can't check hotmail or yahoo with Mail
i only check gmail
but
i can't seem to find an option to download/import my folders and the messages in them from gmail (what outlook express does for example when you set up a new account)
does it not do that at all or is it just me?
this is one of the last things that are making me still use the pc a bit

if it can't do that, is there something else out there that can access hotmail and other accounts(hopefully) as well as gmail?

I think you'll need something like httpmail to make those accounts work with Mail. And for Hotmail, you may also need to upgrade from a free Hotmail account to a Hotmail Plus account ($20 I think?).

Httpmail works for me on a free hotmail account.

can i get the emails from gmail downloaded to Mail though?

I check my free Yahoo account through Mail no problem...

As for downloading your mail to your Mac, that is obviously the function of the program itself, so the answer would be a yes.
If you also want to delete the downloaded messages from the online server, there is an option under Preferences->Accounts->Advanced.

BTW, did you make sure you have your Gmail account enabled? Follow Preferences->Accounts and check all your options are set the way you need them.

it downloads the new emails but not the existing ones
how can i do that?
it is enabled and active and everything is ok


are there guidelines to set up a yahoo account on Mail?

ok,i've got my hotmail accounts in
still problems not downloading my gmail read messages,it only sees the new ones!!! how can i fix that? outlook express downloads them fine

how can i add a yahoo account too?

you need to go into your pop settings within your Gmail account and choose to download all messages....
