Check this out ... I bought this MBP in August 2010 ... then in May 2011, I added AppleCare before my year was up ... for whatever reason, Applecare recognized I bought the computer on May 11, 2011 (the day I bought the AC) therefore AC was listed as good until May 11, 2014.
Fast forward until 2 weeks ago when my battery completely died ... I was bummed because my MBP was now grounded and not capable to be mobile anymore ... I was reading online that the battery would not be covered as too much time had passed.
I decided to make an appointment online and see what they would say ... the guy said, yup the battery is dead and that I would need a new one ... he goes, good thing you have AC ... so this will not cost you anything.
15 minutes later I had a brand new $150 battery installed in my 2010 MBP
I am now home charging it for the first time ... the battery reads 100% health with 0 cycles.
Wow ... I am thrilled how today went at the Genius bar
