Chess app being weird! Help!
The Chess app doesn't allow me to do the moves I want. First let me say I know the rules of Chess. This is the exact same problem as a thread a few years ago:

I will make a legal move and it will return my piece to previous position and won't let me do what I want. For example it wouldn't let me take the opponent's Knight.
I know the rules of chess. Why is the computer trying to control my moves? It is not on Suicide setting, it is a legal move and it was not compromising my King. (Even if I was compromising my King, isn't that MY mistake to make?)
Also, if I hit "show last move" how do I get the arrow to go away and continue playing?

No, it isn't your mistake to make. The rules of chess explicitly prohibit that. If you think that way, perhaps you're making a simple mistake.
Write down a game (in SAN, PGN, or whatever) against Chess.app and post it here. Then other Mac users can replicate the exact same moves and compare what happens.
I actually beat it on the default setting a number of years ago and was so excited, I saved my game and still have the file. I immediately retired from Chess on the Mac, having won my very last game.

okay playing a game of chess on the mac chess hardest difficulty and am setting myself up to win . i believe that mac knew it was about to lose and wouldn't let me take my move although it was 100.0% legit i try for 5 min and nothing happens i then ask for a hint in which it tell me to take one of its pieces but in doing so it would take my piece and this was the only move i was allowed to make
