Chipolo today introduced a series of new Bluetooth-enabled item trackers that are compatible with Apple's Find My network. Called the Pop, these trackers come in a range of bright colors, including blue, yellow, red, and green, along with black and white.

The Chipolo Pop item trackers work with Apple Find My, so you can use them just like AirTags. The Pop can be added to your Items tab in the Find My app, and once added, it is trackable over Bluetooth and can be placed on an item like a bag or a suitcase for tracking purposes.

When the item is out of range, the Pop is able to connect to the Find My network to leverage the iPhones of other people to locate your item and relay its location.

Like an AirTag, the Chipolo Pop is equipped with a CR2032 battery that lasts for up to a year before it needs to be replaced. The Pop is 6.6mm thick (so a little thinner than an AirTag) and it has a 300 ft range, plus it comes with a loop at the top for attaching a keyring or strap.

Compared to prior-generation Chipolo trackers, the Pop has a louder sound when the Play Sound option is selected in Find My, a longer range, and IP55 dust and water resistance.

Chipolo is selling the Pop for $29, and it can be purchased from the Chipolo website. Four Pops are priced at $89, and six Pops are priced at $121, or a little over $20 per tracker.

Wow, extremely bright. Very easy for a potential thief to spot and remove.
Not everything that gets lost is stolen. I've been carrying keys for many decades, and of all the dozens (hundreds?) of times I couldn't find them, theft was the issue exactly 0% of the time.

Every discussion of AirTags descends into the same tired back and forth about theft, but 1) none of these items pretends to be anti-theft and 2) there are so many other less nefarious scenarios in which they're useful.

This is factually incorrect.

The Apple Airtag has Ultra Wideband for much much better tracking &'location ,..this tag does not.
That s what I am wondering.

There are plenty of options in the market that are compatible, or to be exact, operable with the Find My network. But almost all of them do not have UWB to be qualified for “work like AirTag”.

AirTag is due to be facelifted. The timing of chipo to launch a colorful series is interesting.

I bought my wife this Orbit Glasses/World's smallest Bluetooth locator to find your glasses and while it's compatible with Find My, it also doesn't have ultra wideband to locate it when nearby. You can make it play a sound but the sound it plays seems to come from everywhere in the room. You can see it on the Find My map fine, but close by it's hard to know where it is. I'd much prefer an Airtag for ability to locate it close by.

My house is an hour or so from my job. On a couple occasions I've left my work keys behind, which can be rather annoying - so I put one of their previous (Find My compatible) trackers on my work keyring. It's definitely saved me some grief.

It's nice being able to slip these things onto your keychain (or whatever) without needing to spend an additional 10-15 bucks for the privilege.

Chipolo IP55 vs Apple IP67

IP RatingProtection Against SolidsProtection Against LiquidsWater Immersion Capability
IP55Moderate protection against dust; Not completely dust-tightProtection against low-pressure water jets from any directionNot suitable for immersion in water
IP67Complete protection against dust; Dust-tightComplete protection against immersion in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutesSuitable for temporary immersion in water

Airtags seem to be not so waterproof, especially after a battery change. The dog wore one for a week of vacation and the tag lost function due to 2 minutes of seawater per day.

It could be completely sealed and charged like the Apple Watch? Why not?

But does this have all the anti-stalking measures that render AirTags completely useless to actual users?
Ultra Wideband renders AirTags very useful for my actual non-stalking uses.
But I agree that there could have been a few times when I might have found AirTags useful for stalking pets if not for
the risk of subjecting them to loud noises screaming in their ears.

I am confused as to why this product even exists, it has less features and isn't any cheaper than the AirTag itself?

Love the look, it feels very European – particularly the colours choices and the plastic moulding.
Also the colour-matched key-rings look great (not sure if they are included or only for the promotional photography).

I bought one of their initial wallet card trackers years ago. Still works and I only have positive thoughts.
Mine started chirping within 6 months and then just died. I won't be buying from them again because of this.
