Deloitte this week announced it has been selected to redesign Chipotle Mexican Grill's mobile ordering app for iOS and Android.

Chipotle plans to launch the new apps in the fall of 2017, and one of the key new features will include in-app support for Apple Pay and Android Pay.

The burrito chain launched its mobile ordering app way back in 2009, allowing customers to order ahead of time and skip the line upon arrival.

Existing payment options include credit cards and Chipotle gift cards.

Chipotle's app is free on the App Store [Direct Link] for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch in the United States, Canada, Germany, France, and UK.

When can I get Chipotlaway with Apple Pay? Because I love Chipotle, but I hate the blood stains in my underwear.

(Does anyone else immediately think of Chipotlaway when Chipotle comes up?)

I wish more of these businesses with huge resource pools had handled this a couple of years ago. A chain like chipotle and target frankly have no excuse not to accept Apple and Android Pay both in apps AND at their registers.

The trend is towards more automation and mobile ordering is part of that. Put up QR codes that point to a special website that accepts payment and people might not even need to download apps for every store they go to, either. Ultimately it may not matter whether a store supports NFC or not.

I use the order ahead feature almost every time I go to Chipotle, so this is very welcome!

Now to get Target and Kroger on board...

Yesss! I wish more places took Apple Pay in store, though. Recently had my credit card number stolen after I used it at a restaurant. Apple Pay solves that problem. Also, Apple Pay and Apple Watch are a match made in heaven.

They had a major card info breach at a bunch of their stores in Metro Atlanta (and maybe other markets, too...I'm not sure) within the last 6 to 8 months. It wouldn't surprise me if they start accepting Apple Pay in-store soon, as well.

Hopefully it’ll lead to them accepting Apple Pay at checkout as well. You’d think for a restaurant that tries to cycle customers as much as possible, that they’d want a fast / easy / secure method for customers to breeze through the line. Reminds me of that Apple Pay Intro video Tim Cook showed in 2014.

I have eaten at chipotle many many times and have never once gotten sick in any way from it. I don't understand this reputation. I generally prefer to wait in line and order for similar reasons for eschewing self checkout at the grocery store: I like to interact with humans (says guy typing this anonymously online). But the wider apple pay is adapted the faster it grows.
