I am quite happy with my 1st gen Apple TV 4K. What I am not clear on is where my “choke” point is. My router supports WiFi 6. The ATV is connected to a smart tv but I use the ATV which I know does not support WiFi 6. I should also note the ATV has line of sight to the router and the two are maybe 25 feet away from each other so it is not like the two are spread out.

What I don’t know is if I was to upgrade, how does the WiFi on the physical TV on the wall fit in? Is it only a factor if I am using the apps on it (which I don’t) and if I would actually see a difference with WiFi 6 and the enhanced video capabilities which I don’t know if my TV supports or not. I see the Dolby Atmos icons when I turn on the ATV so I know my sound bar supports it but this is sounding like I need a TV and sound system to utilize those features.

If it helps here are links to the TV I have

And the speaker bar

Why don’t you include information like the model of your TV and sound bar?

Well it appears that upon further examination I don’t have Dolby atmos so that part is mute. However if I could get some feedback on whether upgrading will improve video and network capability that would be great.

Network upgrade would not be anything significant, both AC and AX are overkill. AC can generally achieve 1Gbps wireless speeds, but streaming video uses around 25 Mbps.

That’s what I figured and since the HDR video quality stuff requires the content, I can wait for more content to be available and maybe get a better sound bar at the same time.
