So for just $2,000 i can buy a 15in Ret. Mac Book Pro with a 256GB SSD drive, 8GB RAM, 650M video card, and 2.9/3.4 ghz i7

or I can get a smaller iMac with 3.1/3.9Ghz machine with just a Fusion drive same Ram, Same Video...about $200 less.

I wanna play some video games, will I notice a big difference between the two processor speeds while playing, say, GW2 in a Bootcamp setup?

These are college prices btw,

Also, do people still buy the AppleCare later and just add it to the SN of the machine?

are u looking at the 27 inch with the 660m or 675mx?

duh im trippin of course your talkin about the 21 inch anyways i had the 650m in a 15 inch with 512mb of vram and playing newer games like bf3 and farcry3 struggle allot when you go beyond the medium to low settings in 1080p the 27inch with thr 675mx performs a whole lot better

well the 27in WITHOUT the upgraded i7 processor and 7200RPM HD rings in just over 2K(With the college education discount)...should I do that?

I guess If I was really interested in games I could also build my own Windows, but I need a new Mac anyway...

since your in college i would go with the retina as its portable plus it has 1gb of vram instead of 512 like the imac so it will perform better in games ...plus the retina screen is sexy

u can get a retina 15 inch from bhphotovideo.com wich is a verry reliable and credible website for 1899,00 they dont collect ssles tax snd they have free shippin

tough choice...

the iMac 27" i5 3.2GHz with the 675mx is a very nice computer. DO NOT buy the lower end 27" if you want to play games. The 675mx is the better video card. Skip the fusion drive to save money. You can upgrade it later. 27" screen and a decent video card is a great deal.


BUT... you can't take it to the library when you're studying, etc. Honestly, with an iPad and iMac, I haven't used a laptop in ages.

Laptops are great since you are mobile and have everything with you. Truth is though after buying an iMac about 3 years ago I prefer it over a laptop.


I prefer to work at Home where a laptop would be of no use, also the imac is a lot more powerful system.


Either decision will be great though, relax.
For gaming buy the new Ps4......
