Hi y'all!
I currently have a 13-inch MacBook Pro, Mid 2014, and I'm looking to buy a monitor to use as a second display aside from my laptop. I need to multi-task every day, basically doing online research, reading papers and writing at the same time. As a result, I expect a monitor with (1) a large screen size, (2) high resolution and (3) decent refresh rate.
So far I have consulted many advisors through Apple Chat, but few gave me useful information other than specs that are already provided on Apple's official site. Most of them said the highest resolution supported at 60Hz is 1080p, and going beyond that resolution would inevitably reduce the refresh rate. But I've heard people say that a DisplayPort is able to increase the capacity and support a higher resolution at a higher refresh rate.
My questions are:
1) What is the maximum resolution, in light of my particular MacBook Pro model, of a monitor that can run at 60Hz? Is it possible to use adapters or docks to increase the capacity?
2) What are some recommendations of monitors that fit my current need?
Thank you!
