Hi there,

I hope to put together a site to which I and a few friends (each with our own blogs currently in blogger/blogspot) will migrate to.

The basic idea is that there will be N blogs, a forum and N Mailing lists.

Each blog will have one Topic/room in the forum, and its own mailing list.

Any post on the blog becomes a thread on the forum (in that blog's room) and a post to the mailing list.

Any comment to that post becomes a message under that thread, and a reply to that email (which is sent out over the list)

Any reply to either email or a message replying within that thread on the forum propagates to the other, and ends up a comment on that post.

A new message in the forum (unassociated with a post-thread) will go out over the mailing list and vice versa, but will not post to the blog.

While anonymous posting (for comments) may be allowed, ideally being a "member" of the mailing list makes one a member of the forum and a member of the blog. (and vice versa etc)

So what packages should I link together and start modifying?

I want to use wordpress, but the single blog per install looks daunting
I want to use mailman to handle the lists, but hacking other peoples' perl is always frightening...

thoughts?

i've seen wordpress and phpbb2 hacked together to do the post->thread and comment->post conversion.

That would definitely get me started; do you have a URL or email address where I could follow up on how it was done, and perhaps thus get a head start.

if you could email me that information at quidire(AT)gmail(dot)com

Thanks
