Choppy call quality when using earbuds?

I was on a phone call last night with my iPhone 5, using earbuds for the first time, the ones that came with my iPhone 4 which had always worked with that phone. However, with the iPhone 5, the other person's voice sounded all choppy, like there was some sort of noise cancellation altering the volume of every word. When I stopped using the earbuds, this stopped, and I went back and forth a couple times to confirm it only happened with the earbuds.

I haven't had a chance to try it with the new earpods, but has anyone else seen this problem?

Yes, there seems to be an issues with the ear pods which is very much a bum out. Read another post on here about this

Maybe your earpods arent plugged in all the way???
