I'm trying to do my research paper and I have this newspaper pdf file opened and I notice that it's taking up around 90+% CPU, even when the window is in background and not active. I'm just wondering if anyone knows what's wrong with this? Scrolling is insanely choppy, takes around 5-8 seconds before it registers my scroll gesture.

The pdf is an image of a scanned newspaper, around 1.5 mb...

It's pretty normal (especially choppy scrolling) when using a scaled resolution.

pdfs especially have a lagging issue - even on the iPad 3 (though less severe). If you really need to read the PDF I recommend importing to google docs and reading from there; I found that takes care of most of the lag if you use chrome (since it isn't in hidpi mode).

The text WILL look less fine, though. A little worse than a native 1440x900 display...actually...
