Choppy scrolling performance in Safari

On my 2020 MacBook Pro 13" with an i5 processor and 16 gb of ram, i've noticed scrolling performance in Safari is awful. As I scroll down a web page, the computer gets hung up on the elements as they are loading which completely "pauses" the scrolling experience. A simple example if foxnews.com - on my Mac, the scrolling is buggy and erratic, but on my iPad Pro, the scrolling is flawless. Is anyone else experiencing this?
