Chrome app not present??

I was having some functionality issues with Edge on a website and they said I should try Chrome. I thought I had Chrome installed but didn't see it in the apps list do downloaded the .dmg file and dragged it to the Apps folder as per the instructions. It still does not appear there? What am I doing wrong?

Edit: I downloaded it again, went to finder>downloads again and dragged it to the apps folder again. Message said it was already there, do you want to replace it? I did. But there is still no Chrome icon or any way to start Chrome that I can see.

OK, I got it, by finding and opening the DMG file, etc. What a PITA.

You're supposed to open the .dmg and drag the app file from inside the dmg folder to your apps folder. Then start Chrome from there. That should do it.
