Previously I used to be able to select text, but single tap to first letter and than drag till the text i wanted to selected. Now with Lion, I can't do that anymore? when I double-tap, I get the blinking indicator, but I am not able to slide finger to the right to select all the text I want? It basically selects entire word.

I'm using the beta on Lion and I use the three finger drag to select text. It was always like that for me though regardless of program.
Found the fix.
To reenable it, visit the Universal Access system preference, Mouse & Trackpad tab, and click Trackpad Options. Select Dragging (with or without Drag Lock), click Done and voilà - one-click dragging is back, for all your text selection and window repositioning needs.
now i can select text just with 1finger doubletap..
