Chrome is set as my default browser, but Safari keeps annoyingly popping up.

If I click on a notification in notification center (from this site, for example), Safari opens.

If I'm already in chrome, highlight text, right click and choose "search with google," lo and behold, Safari opens.

Any idea why this is happening, and is there a fix?

Notifications from MacRumors can only be opened in Safari as far as I know. Notifications from MacRumors does not work in other browsers as posted below.

As for why Chrome would be opening Safari when you are doing a search of Google with highlighted text from within Chrome is beyond me.

Right, I understand the notifications themselves are subscribed to via safari but there's no reason clicking on a notification shouldn't go to your default browser. At that point, it's simply a link.

A cheap way for apple to try an get more people using safari.

The other problem is even more annoying.
