Chrome on iPad not remembering passwords

I cannot get the latest (or previous) version of Chrome on my iPad to remember passwords. I'm pretty sure I have it set right, but it's not happening. Amazon.com is listed on the remember passwords setting page, and that works, but nothing else. It does not remember password or logon info for my email or two other websites I use frequently. What am I not doing? Thanks.
